ONEIRIC SHIRAZ 2013
The deep blue of azurite, an oxide of copper, captures the richness of Oneiric’s Shiraz.
Maroon-edged, with a deep vermilion heart, this wine unfolds an opulent bouquet of concentrated dark fruits, morello cherry and mulberry, beneath a subtle tobacco-leaf undertone. Jammy accents and a whisper of camphor mingle with hawthorn and fresh violet, while a fine dusting of white pepper threads through the wine’s richer, denser layers.
On the palate it is velvety and generous, unmistakably Rhône in character: ripe blackberry and black cherry give way to dark chocolate, clove and a hint of smoked meat, with a touch of vanilla rounding the finish. Fresh acidity and supple tannins keep the wine balanced, leading to a savoury, lingering finish that invites another sip.
Tasting notes: Aromas of black cherry, cracked white pepper and smoked meat. Palate of blackberry, dark chocolate, clove and vanilla, supported by bright acidity and smooth tannins.
Dish pairing:
Slow-cooked lamb shank
BBQ ribs
Pepper‑crusted steak
Mushroom risotto
Aged cheddar or gouda
