Oh! MERLOT 2021
Maroon-edged, deep vermilion in the glass. Aromas of jammy black fruit are joined by bilberry, morello cherry and ripe plum, with subtle herbal notes. The palate is plush and creamy, framed by warm cloves and cinnamon and a hint of stewed plum.
Oh! Merlot is a cool-climate Merlot from Elgin, South Africa, a region celebrated for producing elegant, finely structured wines. The cool temperatures allow extended ripening, yielding balanced acidity, refined tannins and expressive, pure fruit. Fermented in stainless steel with minimal oak influence to preserve freshness and definition.
Tasting notes
Nose: redcurrant, plum and a touch of thyme
Palate: medium-bodied and silky, with fresh red fruit, gentle tannins and a clean, lifted finish
Dish pairings
Grilled lamb chops with herbs
Mushroom risotto
Soft cheeses such as Brie
Roasted red pepper and feta tart
Lentil and beetroot salad
From the cool Elgin Valley, this Merlot showcases the variety’s potential beyond traditional strongholds — elegant, refined and distinctly site-driven.
