FIRST QUANTUM GRAND RESERVE BLEND 2017
Cabernet–Merlot Bordeaux-style blend inspired by First Quantum Minerals — a name as commanding as the wine it contains.
Appearance Deep crimson with maroon edges.
Aroma Ripe black fruits lead the bouquet — blackcurrant and plum — followed by cocoa, bilberry, crème de cassis and violet, with subtle leather. Complex secondary notes of cigar box and pencil lead add depth and intrigue.
Palate Rich, structured and polished. Plush, creamy tannins carry concentrated fruit while a savoury freshness persists. Flavours of raspberry, dark meat and graphite are framed by a cooling menthol lift from the Merlot, providing poise and clarity.
Finish Elegant, opulent and long; a harmonious balance of concentration, savouriness and refined texture.
Tasting Notes: Blackcurrant, plum and cedar on the nose. Medium–full bodied on the palate with dark berry and spice flavours, a touch of oak, smooth tannins and sustained length.
Dish Pairings Grilled steak, roast lamb, hearty stews, mature cheeses, mushroom dishes and barbecued meats — ideal with robust, savoury fare.
A true example of a world class wine.
